The wheels are fantastic
The wheels are excellent. I've replaced 20" tesla induction rims and 245/40R20 Michelin Pilot Sport Tyres (with only 5000km) for the 18" Avatas and 235/55R18 Michelin Primacy 5 on a 2023 Tesla model y RWD. I live on the GOR and the majority of my driving is on lumpy and bumpy roads around the Otways and the GOR in Victoria. The Pilot Sports were very precise for steering but too harsh and uncomfortable when driven at or especially above the speed limit in my local area.
The 18" Avata rims and 235/55TR18 104W XL tyres are quieter, more comfortable and offer great handling and wet weather grip. I run them at 39psi when cold and will watch carefully for even wear over the next 10000kms before their first rotation.
I am happy that I went through the process to experiment with these 18" rims. The car is so much better, not just because everyone who gets in comments of the improved feel of the car but because when I drive the car alone it is so much more fun and enjoyable. Its playful in ways that it wasn't with the 20" rims, its quicker through corners because the car doesn't crash out through the bumps that are common to 70% of the corners and it subjectively appears to accelerate more rapidly, without so much noise and tons more comfort and control.
Appearance: I've never seen a set of wheels whilst driving a car, I can only feel them. I changed to 18" Avatas to improve the handling and dynamics of the 2023 'comfort' Model y that I have. So what is there to say, additionally, about their appearance? They look great and I am stoked.
